MOVING HOUSE!

So Tuesday the 26th of November I moved house. I was so exited to move due to getting a bigger room and having a new blank canvas to decorate and design however I choose. It was not until I started packing all my stuff that i realized that; 1 I have a huge amount of stuff and 2 it is extremely hard to pack and to know what to pack first.
I set my room into categories; clothes, make up, jewelry, under the bed stuff, hair stuff, cupboard stuff and even things like socks were all categorized so that once my boxes were packed I didn't have half my socks in one box and the other half in another. Also we needed to solve the problem of urgent things, how am I going to be tell exactly where my important things are if I have 25 boxes that all look the same?
Me and my mum came up with the idea to use pink labels on all the boxes that were urgent and that needed to be opened quickly.

This made sure that we knew exactly what boxes were important. We also decided that we should not only just label the boxes the rooms they were going in, but also label them with fragile or heavy if they were either and also a description of what exactly is in the box.

The labels give you an exact description of who the box belongs and where it is going and also what is in it so that when you are searching for that dress you really want to wear on Saturday, you will know exactly where to find it.

When I imagined moving house, I pictured this really stressful, worrying and boring task that would take up a lot of my time I could be using to do other things and making me to stressed out to even think about doing anything else. However I only guessed that it was going to take me a long time right. The packing of all my things and also throwing stuff out as I went along was actually quite fun. Even writing out the labels and taping the box together was quite interesting.

So next time you or a friend or family member is moving, why don't you offer to help, you may have more fun than you think ;)

Autumn/Winter Essentials

Autumn/Winter Essentials

Due to the cold weather and the season change, I tend to use different things to keep my skin hydrated, to keep me warm and to make my overall appearance look a little more suitable for the colder weather. I thought that I should write down and put in a blog post for whoever would like to read the things I think are essential for autumn and winter. However, when coming up with my list, I came up with quite a few products/things that I believe to be essential so I have categorised them into 6 categories.

No.1. Skin!

The harsh winter winds which we are getting used to far too quickly this year, bearing in mind it’s still autumn, can have quite an effect on the skin. To make sure that your skin stays as healthy looking as possible it needs to be full of moisture and the cold weather can make the skin quite dry.
An essential product I believe is moisturiser. It doesn’t have to be any particular moisturiser however I use Lush’s Vanishing Cream. It smells like lavender which I do not particularly like but it is a very good moisturiser.

Under my moisturiser I have also been using Hydraluron’s moisture booster. It’s really making a difference and really helping my moisturiser to do its job. My last blog was a review on this product so if you want to find out more about what it does then go check that out.

Face masks are also a good idea to give your skin a little pick me up. Anything that says it will moisturise your skin or leave it with a glow is great in the winter time.

Hand cream and body butter are also great products to keep your skin full of hydration and to make sure that the skin does not start to dry and become flaky. I recommend the Body Shops body butters because they are all very hydrating to the skin and all smell amazing. I also recommend having a hand cream that you can carry around in your handbag with you to apply on the go!

No.2. Lips and Nails!

In the autumn and especially in the winter, a lip balm is essential in keeping your lips nice and moisturised. I personally prefer something plain and simple like Vaseline. However, babylips by Maybelline are also a good idea to carry around in your bag.

Autumn colours really affect the way that people do their makeup. In the winter I like to wear berry and darker shades of lipstick and nail varnish. I just think that it gives that autumn/winter effect. My favourite at the moment is Mac’s Cyber. It’s a very dark purple but gives an amazing edge to your makeup.

No.3. Blush and Bronzer!

This time of the year, the cold weather would naturally turn your cheeks pink and I think this is also exactly how you should go with your makeup. Lots of pink coloured blusher to keep the natural yet still pretty look. I recommend Nars’ Orgasm as it is just that pinky colour you’re looking for and has a bit of shimmer in too which eliminates the need to use highlighter.

I still think that even though the sun has gone away for the next couple of months, you should still use bronzer. Bronzer gives your skin a warm glow and bronzer is a perfect product to finish the glowing look off. You could also just use your usual contour colour to give structure to the face instead if you are using a shimmery blush. My favourite is harmony by MAC.

No.4. Candles!

There a certain smells that I really think relate to this time of year. Scents like spiced apple and cinnamon are just two that I can mention. When the colder months hit, its nice to change your candles from all the sweet and vanilla scents from summer and change them into spicy and berry scents.

No.5. Hot drinks and comfy PJs!

I love to be snuggled up in bed watching a film with a hot chocolate and fluffy pyjama bottoms on. Everyone should have a favourite hot drink for the cold months and mine is definitely hot chocolate. If you are also a hot chocolate lover then I recommend Costa’s Black forest hot chocolate. It’s the perfect mixture between chocolate and cherry, MMMMmmm! As for PJs, the fluffier the bottoms are the better. They must be super cosy and super warm! I usually get a couple of pairs from Primark because they are very nice but they are also cheap. When I’m at Primark I also pick up fluffy and sometimes Christmas themed socks because these are a must have in winter, either for bed or for wearing under boots.

No.6. Fashion!

Everyone in the winter definitely needs a winter coat, this is a must have and could be used as a final piece to any outfit. Also nice warm hats and scarves, bobble woolly hats being a bit of an obsession for me at the moment.

Another essential fashion piece is boots. I think ankle boots work the best as they can be worn with jeans or even a nice thick pair of tights with a skirt or dress. As the weather in autumn and winter are quite wet, I recommend leather or leather look boots so they protect your feet from the rain and also do not ruin!

Thank you for taking the time to read this blog and I hope that this helped you in some way form your essentials for autumn and winter.

Hydraluron: Moisture Booster Review

It is that time of year again where the weather is getting colder and we are all having to rake our coats and hats out from the back of our cupboards. Cold weather and chilly winds can leave your skin feeling very dry and maybe looking a little dull. A moisturizer, especially for your face where all that wind is going to be hitting, is essential to make sure your skin is at its best.

I discovered a new product through Zoella's YouTube channel called Hydraluron. However, I decided against buying it due to its price. A few weeks ago now I was in boots, having a nose around in the makeup section looking for some new colours of lipstick for the colder weather when i spotted that the Hydraluron range was on offer. I immediately picked the Moisture Booster one up and put it in my basket.

When using Hydraluron, you do not stop using your moisturizer. Hydraluron is a serum used straight onto the face to be used underneath your usual moisturizer, however do not be fooled, a little of this goes a very long way! It helps your skin to increase the amount of moisture it can retain and in time you will need to use a lot less moisturizers. The increases in moisture levels in the skin because of this product have also shown a decrease in roughness of the skin and elasticity in the skin as well. This, although not stated on the actual product, may actually help the aging process as when your skin starts to sag and develop wrinkles, it is because of a loss of elasticity in the skin. Keeping the skin tight may help the aging process.

The box does actually have a bit where you can sort of open it up and it is full of information. This product has actually been clinically tested and has also had an in-vitro study which is a study carried out on real people using the product and testing what it does to the skin.

Overall, I think that this product is a great aid to your moisturizer. At first I did not really notice a difference in my skin and I was really disappointed but after a couple of uses, I started to notice that a lot of the usual dry patches on my face were either not as dry or not there at all. I have always had problems with my skin, especially in the T zone. It’s quite dry and flaky, but at the same time it is oily and sometimes spotty. I really am loving the effect it is having on my skin and the dryness of it.

First ever blog

So I guess this is where it all starts. I'm not a very good writer as you can probably already tell so I really don't know how well this is going to go. I'm Amber, I am 17 years old and I attend 6th form.
However, I have reached that time in your life where you start to look at the decisions you have made and start to evaluate them. Whether they were right or wrong, what if you had done this and what if this had happened instead. As all this was going through my head I came to realise that I may not be where I want to be. I'm not really doing amazingly well in my AS's, in fact I’m not doing very well at all and all I can keep thinking is was 6th form the right decision for me? I've always wanted to go to uni, not just for the qualifications, but also for the experience, however when faced with the fact that the A levels needed to get there may not be a choice for me next year due to low grades could really put a spanner in the works.
I can get quite angry and upset over the fact that I’m 18 in just a few months and I still have no idea what I want to do with my life. To many 18 seems like a very young age, but they still make you choose all these decisions which in 10 years time you may regret making. Yet I'm still meant to know what i want to do with the rest of my life which is a tough decision to make. Do I fight to stay in 6th form? Do I go out and find myself a full time job? Do i start an apprentiship instead? So many possibilities and so many paths to choose.

Me and my cousin as lil babys

At this age thoughts of the future are when you think your next meal is not what you will do for the rest of your life!
So here I now am, 17, in a part time job with little hope that any of my exam results are going to come back as anything more than E's.
And with that very depressing ending, I think I'll leave it there and close my first ever blog.
